Trying for a baby can be one of the most hopeful, exciting and painful experiences we go through.
For some people pregnancy happens quickly. For others, every month brings another cycle of hope followed by disappointment. Life can begin to revolve around ovulation tests, temperature charts, blood tests, clinic appointments and wondering whether this will finally be the month.
Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, living with endometriosis or PCOS, preparing for IVF, or navigating unexplained infertility, the journey can be physically demanding and emotionally exhausting.
Acupuncture offers support for both.
As a fertility acupuncturist in Brighton, I provide personalised treatment that aims to optimise reproductive health while also creating space for you to slow down, be listened to, and feel supported throughout your fertility journey.
I first started to see Katy in 2020 when we were trying for a baby. Being slightly older brings a level of anxiety and emotions and Katy was fantastic at calming and reassuring me throughout. I’m so pleased to say our new baby was born recently and we can’t thank Katy enough for all the support and help she gave to us. Thank you for everything.
Every fertility journey is different. Some people have a clear diagnosis, while others are told that everything appears normal despite months or years of trying.
I regularly work with people experiencing:
Traditional Chinese Medicine doesn’t simply treat a diagnosis. It looks at the individual sitting in front of me, considering your menstrual cycle, general health, stress levels, sleep, digestion, energy and emotional wellbeing to create a treatment plan that’s unique to you.
While no treatment can guarantee pregnancy, acupuncture may support fertility in several ways.
Treatment may help to:

Many patients also tell me that regular appointments give them something equally valuable: a chance to step off the emotional rollercoaster for an hour.
Fertility treatment often involves long periods of waiting, uncertainty and feeling that life is on hold. Acupuncture provides regular space to pause, reflect and receive support, whatever stage of the journey you’re on.
Many of my patients receive acupuncture alongside IVF, ICSI or IUI treatment.
Treatment is carefully timed around your fertility clinic schedule and tailored to each stage of the process.
Research suggests acupuncture may support assisted conception by improving blood flow to the uterus, helping regulate the body’s stress response and creating optimal conditions before embryo transfer. Many people also find that acupuncture helps them cope emotionally with the demands of fertility treatment.
Throughout our three courses of IVF Katy was an incredible support. She tailored our treatment according to our needs and we reaped the benefits; emotionally and physically. We are pleased to say we are now expecting our first baby and we can’t thank Katy enough for all the support she’s given us both. Fertility treatment is a roller coaster but Katy’s been with us every step of the way. She’s wonderfully caring, calming and reassuring and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others.
There is rarely one single factor that influences fertility. Small changes across several areas of health can often work together to create the best possible environment for conception. Alongside acupuncture we may discuss:
The aim isn’t perfection. It’s about supporting your body in realistic and sustainable ways.
The earlier, the better.
Ideally I recommend allowing around three months before trying to conceive or before beginning IVF treatment, as this gives us time to work through at least one full cycle of egg development. For male fertility, sperm take approximately 90 days to mature, making early treatment particularly beneficial.
Initially I usually recommend weekly treatments before moving to appointments that are timed around your menstrual cycle or fertility treatment plan.
That said, every situation is different. Some acupuncture is always better than none, so if you’re already part way through your journey it’s never too late to begin.
Your first appointment lasts around an hour and includes a detailed discussion about your health, menstrual cycle, fertility history and any investigations or treatment you’ve already had.
Every treatment is tailored to your individual circumstances. If you’re having IVF or other assisted fertility treatment, appointments are carefully planned around your clinic timetable.
My role isn’t simply to insert acupuncture needles. It’s to support you through one of life’s most emotionally demanding experiences with kindness, honesty and evidence-informed care.
Fertility can sometimes feel as though life is on hold.
Whether you’re just starting to think about pregnancy or you’ve been trying for some time, acupuncture offers a gentle way to support both your physical and emotional wellbeing.
If you’d like to talk through your situation, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation with no obligation. Together we can discuss your circumstances and whether acupuncture feels like the right next step for you.
